Short Featurette

An older Prince Rigel stood before his desk in his small empty tutoring room, writing down his recent astronomy assignment. Books were stacked high on his desk from his left and right. He sighed heavily, hearing nothing but the scratching of the metal tip of his feather pen against the small piece of parchment, smearing the ink into readable words. His mother had told him to wait in the room for another lesson, but she didn't tell him what it was. He waited for quite a while until the sound of the door knob turning and the door itself creaking open. Coming inside was his mother Princess Luna. Next to her was his aunt, Princess Celestia, who was carrying a few books in with her. The prince looked up to his older family members.

"Rigel," his mother said. "your aunt will be presenting your lesson today: the history of the Equestrian Royal Family." she nodded to her older sister to begin the lesson and closed the door.

When the door was completely shut, Celestia gave her nephew a sly smile, dropping her books to the floor. When she saw an intrigued smile on his face, she pulled out a hidden sword and pointed it towards him.

"Shall we begin?" she asked.

Rigel bashed his desk and stack of books down to the ground, revealing that he too had a sword hidden. "Yeah!!!" he replied, excitedly moving towards his aunt.

"What do you know of the Royal Family?" she first asked.

Rigel lunged at Celestia, slashing and clashing blades. The ringing of clashing steel echoed in the room. He dodged, ducked, and blocked his aunt's offensive techniques. "They are strong, well respected, and the protectors of the land!"

"Mind your balance!" Celestia implied, as well as giving Rigel a lesson in sword combat.

Rigel paused in his tracks, moving Celestia's sword aside with his, and began to imitate some of his mother's usual etiquette movements.

"Luna, the younger princess, brings out the moon to begin the night, and is a mare of great pleasantry." he noticed Celestia's sword was raised up and was slashing down, but he quickly reacted, lifting his blade horizontally to block the vertical attack.

"Keep your guard up!" she also added.

"Sir Knighton the Brave married into the family, becoming Princess Luna's husband." Rigel crashed into Celestia, bashing his body against hers, pushing her into the wall. "Also the leader of the Royal Knights!"

Celestia quickly got back up, lifting her sword, getting prepared once again. "Right! Now, what of the Prince?"

He smirked and chuckled as he started to clash at her sword with strength and speed.

"Rigel is the best swords-stallion in the land!" he slashed his sword downwards onto her blade and kicked her in the side with his hind hooves, hearing a grunt coming from her breath. He spun his sword next to him. "And not bad with a bow either!" He blocked Celestia's next strike and both paused.

"Very good!" she said. "Now, tell me about the older princess! Hurry and report!"

She and Rigel continued to slash their swords at one another, dodging and circling around the small room, knocking down multiple objects from their reckless duel.

"The aunt and high ruler is Celestia, the Sun Princess! Well known for her exceptional bravery, beauty, and supreme power of magic!" Rigel swung once more, but was counter-attacked. he lost his grip, and his sword was tossed aside onto the floor far from him.

Celestia giggled and stuck the tip of her sword into the floor.

"Correct, my dear! What are the symbols of the Royal family?"

Rigel quickly leaped and rolled over to his sword and grasped it.

"The sun and the moon!" he replied, dodging another of Celestia's swings and whipped his back hooves underneath her from legs, causing her to let out a surprised yelp and fall over onto the floor.

Outside of the room, Luna was walking past the door until she heard the sounds of, clashing metal, thumps of falling objects and laughter. She opened the door to take a look at what was happening inside.

"How is the lesson… Oh dear…" Luna's facial expression turned into disappointment. The room was a complete mess with knocked down furniture and books laying on the floor. Rigel was innocently standing next to Celestia who was sitting on the floor covering her face with a book, but slowly moved it down to peek at her younger sister's reaction.

Rigel smiled big and sighed in exhaustion.

"Whew… best lesson I've had all week! Thanks Auntie!" he quickly gave Celestia a quick kiss on the cheek, making her giggle loudly.
This is a short thing I wrote based off of one of the featurettes for Pixar's Brave. [link]

I could find it interesting that Rigel admires is Aunt Celestia more than his own mother. lol

Enjoy~
